Terms of Service

The rules for using this site, the podcast archive API, and the plugin for AI assistants such as ChatGPT.

Last updated October 5, 2026

About these terms

These terms apply to studyinglawaroundtheworld.com, the podcast archive API, and the Studying Law Around the World plugin for AI assistants such as ChatGPT. By browsing the site, using the API, or using the plugin, you agree to them.

If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the service.

Permitted use

You may use the site, the API, and the plugin to find, read, listen to, and cite podcast episodes, guests, themes, and career information for personal, educational, or professional research.

The API and the plugin are read only. They search and return published podcast information, and they cannot create, change, delete, purchase, send, or publish anything, either on this site or anywhere else.

You may quote or link to our content with clear attribution to Studying Law Around the World and, where relevant, to the guest who said it. Please link to the episode page rather than copying whole episodes, transcripts, or the archive.

Educational and informational only, not legal advice

Everything on this site, in the podcast, and in the plugin is general information about legal education, legal careers, and legal practice. It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified lawyer.

Nothing here creates a lawyer and client relationship between you and the podcast, its host, or any guest. If you have a legal problem, consult a lawyer qualified in the relevant jurisdiction.

Accuracy, completeness, and jurisdiction

Guest opinions are their own. Laws, admission requirements, and professional rules differ between jurisdictions and change over time, so we cannot guarantee that any information is complete, current, accurate, or applicable to your situation or your jurisdiction.

Continuing professional development accreditation shown on an episode page applies to the named regulator and to the episode as published. It is your responsibility to confirm that it meets your own requirements.

Do not rely on this service for a decision with legal, financial, academic, or immigration consequences. Verify anything important with the official source and with a qualified professional.

Intellectual property

The podcast name, logo, episode recordings, transcripts, summaries, artwork, and this website are owned by Studying Law Around the World or its licensors, and are protected by copyright and trademark law.

Guests retain their own words, images, and professional information, which they have agreed to share for the episodes they appear in.

You may not copy, republish, redistribute, sell, or use our content to train machine learning models without our written permission. Short quotations with attribution, and links back to the episode page, are welcome.

Misuse and automated abuse

You agree not to scrape or bulk-download the site, the API, or the plugin beyond reasonable personal use; not to attempt to bypass rate limits, authentication, or access controls; not to overload, probe, or disrupt the service; not to misrepresent the service or its content; and not to use it for anything unlawful.

We may throttle, suspend, or block access that puts the service, our guests, or other listeners at risk, and we may report unlawful use.

Availability and changes

The service is provided on an as-is, as-available basis. We may add, change, suspend, or withdraw any part of it, including episodes, API endpoints, plugin tools, and these terms, at any time and without notice.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we may take the service offline for maintenance.

Third party platforms

When you use the plugin through ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or another AI platform, that platform's own terms of service and privacy policy also apply to your use of it. We do not control those platforms and are not responsible for how they operate, or for the answers they generate from the information they retrieve.

AI generated summaries, takeaways, and topics in our own archive are labelled as generated, and are provided for convenience, not as statements of fact about any person.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Studying Law Around the World is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, income, opportunity, or reputation, arising from your use of the site, the API, or the plugin.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred Canadian dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, and the courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about them.

Questions about these terms can be sent through our contact page.
